Tier II Canada Research Chair in Critical Metal Systems

The Department of Geology at Lakehead University invites applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in the area of Critical Mineral Systems (as defined by NRCan). This tenure-track appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This CRC position is for five (5) years and is renewable once. Tier 2 Canada Research Chairs are intended for outstanding and innovative emerging researchers whose accomplishments have made a major impact in their fields and are recognized as leaders in their fields.  Candidates for Tier 2 Chair positions must meet all the requirements for Tier 2 CRCs, and be eligible for assistant or associate professor positions. Tier 2 CRC’s normally are not more than 10 years from their highest degree at the time of submitting the nomination to the CRC secretariat. Application deadline: July 8, 2024

Tier 1 or Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Geoscience of Critical Minerals for a Sustainable Future

The Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan is pleased to invite applications for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Geoscience of Critical Minerals for a Sustainable Future. The ideal candidate will conduct fundamental research applicable to various stages in the life cycle of critical minerals, from mineral exploration through mine reclamation, or secondary sources of critical minerals including mining wastes. The candidate's research may employ field, laboratory, or modelling approaches and will benefit from access to advanced analytical capabilities housed on the University of Saskatchewan campus, including the Saskatchewan Isotope Laboratory, the Saskatchewan Structural Sciences Centre, the Canadian Light Source synchrotron, and the Saskatchewan Research Council. The successful applicant will be appointed as a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (Tier 2), or as a tenured faculty member at the Associate Professor or Professor level (Tier 1). To be considered for this position, applicants must hold a PhD in the geosciences (i.e., Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Environmental Geoscience) or a closely related field. They should possess outstanding research potential or demonstrate research excellence through academic recognition, impactful publications, successful partnerships, and trainee achievements. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of, or potential to, secure external research funding and exhibit capacity for effective undergraduate teaching and graduate training. Applications from all outstanding candidates, including international researchers, permanent residents of Canada, and Canadian citizens are encouraged.
