Awards

The SGA has established four prizes that are awarded at our biennial meetings :

1. The SGA-KGHM Krol Medal for recognizing outstanding service to the Society
2. The SGA-Newmont Gold Medal for career achievements
3. The SGA Young Scientist Award for a distinguished young researcher
4. The best paper published in Mineralium Deposita
5. The Best Student Oral and Poster Presentation

The SGA Awards evaluation procedure

Nominees for the SGA awards are evaluated by the members of the SGA Council and SGA Executive.  Each member carries out a comprehensive evaluation of each candidate which includes ranking each candidate based on a series of criterion relevant to each award.  The evaluation form can be seen here. fake rolex submariner

Each council and executive member submits their vote anonymously to the Chair of the Awards Committee and the SGA Executive Secretary who then compile the votes and report the results back to the SGA Council prior to the spring council meeting.  In the event of a tie in the voting for any of the awards, a second vote between the two tied candidates will take place at the spring council meeting.
